Aix-en-Provence

We arrived in Aix-en-Provence by train and were greeted by a glorious dribbling grey rain; this welcome stayed with us all day.

We wondered around mostly because May 1st was a holiday and nothing was open. We followed the Cezanne crests around the city- the represent the places he used to frequent or were important at some point in his life.

We took a coffee (rain break) break at Paul a petit patisserie. We had amazing macaroons and espresso. I had a chocolate and a vanilla macaroon- so good.

That night we had dinner in a rustic French restaurant where we enjoyed our delicious wine and odd food in the confines of our own cave! I think we were being punished for not having a reservation.
