Tuesday was the Virgin Mary's birthday. As a special treat the city of Florence opens up the terrace that wraps around the Duomo. It is closed to the public every other day of the year. It was a gorgious view of Tuscany and the weather was plesant. Being so close to the dome makes you feel so small, the Duome really is a massive building. We are all ants compared to it.

The building has a lot of detail in the exterior marbel and the interior frescos and tiles. I am going to have to go back multiple times to really beable to take in the whole thing.
