La Rificolona - The lantern festival on the night before Mary's birthday. It began in the piazza de Santa Croce and a band came and began to play there (they sounded like they should be at a highschool pep rally). Then everybody follows the band to different piazzas to accumulate more people. It is a lot of fun walking with all your peers and Florentine families. The good children carried lanterns and all the mishivious children carried bean shooters- to try and shoot the lanterns and set them on fire. In the last piazza there were speeches and a childrens choir. Which i couldn't understand but it really didn't matter- I was there and living in it.
