Rant.

We had a high school art class come visit my drawing class today. Most of you know that people under the age of 18 aren't my favorite; so I wasn't looking forward to the visit. When the kids came in all they asked was "Whats That?" "Whats it supposed to be?" "Is it this?" "Is it that?"... In a way I was seriously disappointed that these students couldn't ask more refined questions and that they ( the students and a lot of today's society) they weren't aware that art can be something in a higher dimension with complex ideas or handling of the material. Instead it is- make it pretty and make it realistic. I wish that America had more of a culture to the arts, but with all the budget cutting and loss of jobs I do not see that happening.
